GCI Newsletter January 2007A very happy New Year to you and your families and our best wishes! New GCI Projects - Call for Nominations! In our recently published GCI "2016 Future Value Chain" report, we have clearly identified a Call-to-Action, which requires the industry to step up and address three identified challenges: 1. The industry should Develop New Ways of Working Together - including sustainable changes in culture, collaborative business planning and new measures and rewards. 2. The industry should more readily and freely Share Information, embracing the concept that the best way to manage increasing complexity is through transparency. 3. The industry should redefine the 2016 Supply Chain, addressing new requirements of the physical flow of goods, driven by forces like volatile energy costs and a growing population density. At its most recent meeting, the GCI Executive Board has decided to set up projects in these three areas to help shape the future. A Call for Nominations has been shared with the Board and you are also kindly invited to join the group efforts. To view the project proposals, please click to GCI Projects Information Sharing or Future Supply Chain or visit our GCI Website directly http://www.gci-net.org/. The Global Commerce Initiative (GCI) and its Global Upstream Supply Initiative (GUSI) Working Group produced the GCI GUSI Business Case Document (please click here to be directly linked) to publicise the benefits of GUSI and Upstream Integration Model (UIM) (please click here to be directly linked), so as to encourage more companies to adopt the UIM and thereby amplify the benefits to be derived by everyone. Learn why GUSI is a multiplier for collaboration benefits and get to know key success factors, identified by the GUSI members, that are required to successfully implement collaborative supply chain management! The document includes some case studies which summarise the benefits derived as a result of adopting the UIM, and also describes how the GUSI members intend to leverage their investment by connecting to more trading partners. More than 30 participants in the GUSI initiative have now moved beyond the pilot phase and are into an aggressive roll-out phase, thereby taking advantage of the scalability provided by GUSI. The GUSI Business Case is available free of charge. The next GCI GUSI Group Meetings are scheduled for: - GCI GUSI Implementation Team / 25 January 2007, Paris - GCI GUSI Working Group / 6 March 2007, Las Vegas For further information about our GCI GUSI Project please click here. GCI "2016 Future Value Chain" Report - printed copies available!Following its recent publication (see GCI Newsletter October 2006, please click here), the GCI report on "2016 - The Future Value Chain", jointly published with Capgemini and Intel, explores a comprehensive, "connected" view of trends and identifies key areas where we believe companies must collaborate in order to manage the value chain in 2016. The GCI Co-Chairmen, A.G. Lafley, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of The Procter & Gamble Company, and José Luis Duran, Chairman of the Management Board of Carrefour, consider this a key document to encourage debate on the forces and trends that will shape our future and our ability to better serve our consumers. Please do send us an email with your postal address and how many copies you wish to receive (susanne.fischer@gci-net.org).
