Partner Organisations

The Role of the GCI Partner Organisations (AIM, CIES, ECR, FMI, GMA, GS1 and GS1 US, and VICS):

  • Active participation in the GCI Steering Group
  • Active and systematic dissemination of GCI information, like sharing project scope and work progress with all members and national organisations/platforms (ECR).
  • The Partner Organisations should help resourcing the Global Working Groups with members of the right expertise (support on GCI Working Group composition).
  • Support in project definitions (scope, deliverables).
  • Drive implementation of GCI endorsed GS1 Standards and GCI Business Process Recommendations through their membership.
  • Constantly support marketing of GCI.
  • Facilitate feedback process from national to regional to global level.
  • Support education and training for GCI Priorities and Business Process Recommendations (implementation support).
  • GCI Partner Organisations are full Board members. As such, they have the "voting" rights of a Board member and they are held as accountable for implementation of Global Standards and GCI endorsed work processes within their membership. A "vote" by a Partner Organisation should carry the support of their membership or Board.
AIM - The European Brands Association AIM - The European Brands Association, represents the vast majority of European manufacturers of branded fast-moving consumer goods through its network of 19 national associations and 50 corporate members; represents 1,800 companies of all sizes. AIM's mission is to create for brands an environment of fair and vigorous competition, fostering innovation and guaranteeing maximum value to consumers.
 
CIES - The Food Business Forum CIES - The Food Business Forum is the independent global food business network. More than two thirds of the world's largest food retailers and their suppliers are part of the international network which is based on privileged access to information and contacts. All in all, more than 200 retailer and 200 supplier companies in over 50 countries are part of the international CIES network.
 
ECR - Efficient Consumer Response ECR - Efficient Consumer Response, is an international movement devoted to "fulfilling consumer wishes better, faster and at less cost". Beginning in North America in 1992 and in Europe the following year, ECR practices and organisations now extend across the world.
 
Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Food Marketing Institute (FMI) conducts programs in research, education, industry relations and public affairs on behalf of its 2,300 member companies - food retailers and wholesalers - in the United States and around the world. FMI's U.S. members operate approximately 26,000 retail food stores with a combined sales volume of $340 billion - three-quarters of all food retail sales in the United States. FMI's retail membership is composed of large multi-store chains, regional firms and independent supermarkets. Its international membership includes 200 companies from 60 countries.
 
GMA - Grocery Manufacturers Association GMA - Grocery Manufacturers Association is the world's largest association of food, beverage and consumer product companies. GMA applies legal, scientific, and political expertise from its member companies to vital food, nutrition and public policy issues affecting the industry. The association also leads efforts to increase productivity, efficiency and growth in the CPA industry.
 
GS1 (formerly EAN International) GS1 (formerly EAN International) is the worldwide leader in identification and e-commerce. It manages and provides standards for the unique and non-ambiguous identification and communication of products, transport units, assets and locations. The EANoUCC standards offer multi-sectoral solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity. GS1 is truly global. It has 99 Member Organisations representing 101 countries and it co-manages with GS1 US (formerly UCC) through the GSMP the EANoUCC system that is used by nearly one million companies worldwide.
 
GS1 US (formerly Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC)) GS1 US (formerly Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC)) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the development and implementation of standards-based, global supply chain solutions. Under its auspices, GS1 US operates two wholly owned subsidiaries, UCCnet and RosettaNet, and it co-manages its global EANoUCC System with GS1.
 
VICS - Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards VICS - Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions, is a global organisation focused on the improvement of the flow of product and information throughout the entire supply chain in the retail industry.
